Direct Marketing and Network Marketing are two completely different beasts. Direct Marketing is a sales business. Network Marketing is a coaching and mentoring business.
In today’s internet age of network marketing, many people are using direct marketing strategies to build a network marketing business. People have been convinced that they need to spend hundreds of hours and dollars learning the art of print persuasion, PPC, SEO, etc.
Network Marketing will always be about building a group of people with a common vision, doing simple actions consistently over an extended period of time. This is the recipe for freedom.
Once I heard a “New School” Internet Network Marketing Guru say emphatically that the idea of residual income from building a network marketing business is a lie!
And there have been many top earners in this profession who have echoed these sentiments. Whenever they took an extended holiday, their business diminished.
Equally, there are many leaders who have built organisations that are self sustaining and grow without any further input on from them. This is the ultimate goal of network marketing. The key is duplication.
If you build a business based on your own charismatic personality, or based on a specialized skill that only you can do, then you will never achieve the freed that this business promises.
Duplication is a very important aspect of the network marketing profession. It allows us to achieve the big promise of MLM, which is to have a lifetime of recurring passive income, which gives us ultimate freedom.
However, there are 2 “laws” that hold the key. They are…
It’s not about what works, it’s about what duplicates.
The way in which you sponsor your people, is the way that your people will try to emulate
What this means is, if you do something that works for you, and not for anyone else, then the chances of you being able to attain the big promise of network marketing are slim.
Recently, a blog post by Randy Gage really struck out at me. He said the difference between “grinders” and “rock stars” is culture. Rock stars create a culture in their organisations, grinders focus on tactics.
I see evidence of this on the internet everyday with people filling their tool chests with the little tweaks here and there to inch them closer to the success they’re looking for.
In the offline world, people spend weeks learning neuro linguistic programming and the art of persuasion so they can manipulate others into their business.
But when they stop their business activities, the business stops producing, because there’s no duplication.
Leaders however, inspire others to find success from within, and this creates the true residual income and freedom that an MLM business promises.

Just about everybody knows who Albert Einstein is. He’s the father of modern physics. His most famous contribution to the world of physics is E = mc2.
It’s a hugely profound equation that describes how energy and matter are directly related to each other. It’s the equation for the creation and destruction of life.
The beautiful thing about it is it’s very, very simple. Anybody, whether it be a 3rd grader or nuclear physicist, can remember it by heart. [click to continue…]
Robert Kiyosaki has always said in his books that business is a team sport. Network Marketing is ESPECIALLY a team sport.
Recently, on a training call hosted by Art Jonak, I heard the story of Orjan Saele. Orjan is a 7 figure network marketing superstar that you’ve never heard of.
He’s from Norway. Norway is not a big country, and network marketing is far from being a way of life there (at least compared to North America, or Australia).
What’s impressive about his feat is that he’s built an organisation totaling 5% of the entire nation’s population! He’s has the biggest downline in Scandinavia. [click to continue…]
