The Subconscious Mind: The Connecting Link between Dreams and Reality
Like my good friend Oliver Tausend, I am participating in a Mentoring For Free Mastermind Group which studies Napoleon Hill’s Think & Grow Rich, chapter by chapter, everyweek. Here’s my thought’s on Chapter 12.
The subtitle of this chapter is The Connecting Link.
The subconscious mind is the connecting link between the un-manifest and the manifest, much like how a radio tunes into the radio waves that we can’t see or feel into sounds that we can hear.

In the beginning, and for quite a long time into my network marketing career, my commitment to personal development wasn’t substantial in comparison to my efforts in business building.
I didn’t have an aversion to it like some people do. You know how some people try to avoid “self help” because they’re insecure, or they’re intimidated at the whole process of self discovery? Well, I don’t think it was like that for me, but I certainly didn’t consider it priority number one.
I’d listen to a few tapes here and there, read a book every now and then, but I wasn’t doing it consistently everyday.

If you ask every hugely successful network marketer what has made the biggest difference for them, they will invariably tell you it was a passion for learning, self development, and personal growth.
The more successful they got, the more they spent time working on themselves.
The best thing about having success in network marketing is not the money and wealth, it’s not the travel or the freedom, it’s not the nice cars and homes, and it’s not even all of the friends that you make along the way. These are all extraordinary things to have.

Here are some forms of marketing that don’t duplicate well in MLM:
Pay Per Click advertising. In fact, pay per click advertising is a full time job where you’re hunched over a computer monitoring all of your keywords, and the bid prices on each of them, split testing ads and landing pages. New people are not going to learn this skill in a reasonable time.
Renting email lists.
Buying leads.
Hard core Search Engine Optimization. Try teaching this to a new person and he’s going to have a miserable time learning it, because first of all he has to become a “guru” and write good articles and then about certain HTML tags and link building, etc…

True residual income is the ultimate goal of network marketing. It’s what people build the business for. It can only be achieved if you’re willing to take yourself out of the equation. That is, not to make the business about You.
You need to be the messenger, not the message. You job is to be a professional pointer – a pointer to a system which does most of the hard work for you.
