I was really good at goal setting in my early days of network marketing. Being young and naive, they were mighty impressive and awe inspiring. Boy, was I fired up!

Well, I quickly learned that setting goals was easy, achieving them was quite a bit harder. The expectations were great and so were the disappointments.

I’m not knocking goal setting here. I still have my goals. Goals are important, but I’ve learned to not be so emotionally attached to them. Instead I focus on the day-to-day process. There are no unrealistic goals, only unrealistic time frames.

So having said that, the first goal for any new network marketer, before setting any lofty goals, should be to break even on their monthly business expenses! (i.e. autoship, advertising, etc.)

In 2005, Robert Kiyosaki wrote a book titled “Before You Quit Your Job!”, which as its title suggests is about the successful transition from being an employee to being an entrepreneur.

There is much more significance to the 5 words “Before You Quit Your Job” than meets the eye. It directly implies that a successful business is conceived and built in your spare time, while you still have a full time job.

In my opinion, this is a very sensible, because building a business requires resources – cash being one of them, although you don’t need a lot to make a lot. [click to continue…]

Have you ever had doubts about your self worth at times in your network marketing career? How about the fear of success? Or thoughts that you don’t deserve it? Perhaps psychological trauma from an attack by a bully?

These ghosts can haunt even the best of people, even those who have the most benevolent of intentions. Unfortunately, it’s just a part of life.

My first year and a half of network marketing now seems like a blur. That period of time was a wild emotional roller-coaster ride…

…from the highs of singing, dancing and clapping at “rah, rah” pep rallies to the crushing low blows of being laughed at by friends and colleagues for promoting a “pyramid scheme”.

A door was opened to a brave new world of infinite possibilities, where dreams come true, where one is only limited by imagination. But every rejection took a little bit of my courage away, gradually closing that door until it was almost shut.

That’s a story many, many network marketers can relate to… [click to continue…]

How cool would it be to give your entire business presentation in just 2 minutes to a good prospect? Just think of all the free time that would give you!

In Parts 1 to 5 of this series, we learned how to turn a neutral prospect into a good prospect in just a few minutes of meeting for the first time.

We also learned how to qualify a prospect to see if their desire for change was strong or weak, so that we can even be selective with them. (…How cool is that?…)

Now it’s time to give the presentation… [click to continue…]

How cool would it be if you could find out a prospect’s deepest dreams and desires within just a few minutes of meeting them for the first time?

That would be a powerful skill to have would it not? As my friend Wayne Vassell pointed out, you could just prospect while you’re out and about, and meet one new person every day (…or about 300 a year…), and take just those who have the strongest burning desire for change.

To be able to do this, you must keep this at the forefront of your mind: When you’re talking to a prospect, you must live in their world, not yours. Not a lot of network marketers get that. If you do, it could change your business and life.

It is actually very easy to find out a prospect’s deepest dreams and desires… [click to continue…]
