Long term residual income is the big promise of MLM. It can’t achieved if you have to build it over and over again. It can only be achieved if you are in a company that will be here for the long haul.
There is a saying that goes “Lies, damn lies, and statistics”… I don’t know if this is true but I have heard that 90% of new network marketing companies will not last two years, and 90% of those remaining will not last for four years.
That’s a 99% failure rate for new network marketing companies in the first 4 years!
The recent iLearningGlobal termination of its MLM pay plan is a classic example. It did not last 2 years as a network marketing company, and it was one of the biggest companies in recent history to fail in such a short period of time.
Still think joining a ground floor opportunity is a good idea?… [click to continue…]
Step By Step, You'll eventually get there
One of the best personal development books I’ve had the pleasure of reading is “The Slight Edge”, written by Jeff Olson.
Jeff Olson was himself, a highly successful network marketer. And one point in time was the co-founder, president and CEO of a network marketing company called The People’s Network or TPN, which eventually merged with Pre-Paid Legal.
For me, The Slight Edge philosophy is so simple that if I just lived my life by it every day, without knowing much else, my long term success is almost guaranteed.
There are no “out there” concepts or philosophies that you may have read in other personal development books (that’s not to say they aren’t important, though). It is pretty much written 5th or 6th grade English with simple, powerful stories to illustrate that… [click to continue…]
Have you ever received a phone call, in the middle of dinner, from a doctor asking you if might just happen to be sick and would like some treatment or diagnosis? I doubt it. I’ve never received any such phone call.
You go to the doctor, he doesn’t come to you. You seek out his advice and if you believe him, you do as he tells you to do. Why? Because in your mind, the doctor is the expert who can help you with your ailment.
It’s pure genius what the medical industry has done to make almost everyone just go straight to them when they have a health problem.
As a network marketer, there are basically two ways you can build your business… [click to continue…]
A couple of years ago when I was working full time as a mechanical engineer, I shared a “Dilbert Cube” with a colleague and we became good friends. I was reading a lot of Robert Kiyosaki books and other personal finance books at that time and I openly shared my learnings with him.
He asked me what I was going to do with my new found knowledge. I told him I was going to find a good network marketing company to get involved with. He just laughed.
He proceeded to tell me “Network marketing deals are rip offs. I’ve been exposed to Amway, Neways, Usana, etc. You can’t make money in those things!” I didn’t prospect them for my business, but several other colleagues told me the same thing, and they even told how I would lose all of my friends. The 1999 blockbuster movie “The Matrix” is one of my favourite movies of all time. To me, it was not just a great action movie, it conveyed a very powerful message. To me, it was all about self awareness and becoming a sovereign individual, much like how “Neo” was “The One”.
I can hear you saying “What is he on about?”, so let me explain… The Matrix, a programmed reality that keeps humans docile in their captivity to the machines, is the perfect metaphor for how most people are “programmed” to live in our society.
Our society values the paradigm of a formal education, complete with a university degree or a training certificate, which holds the key to a life long career in a certain profession, whether it be engineering, carpentry, dentistry, etc, etc. If you want to change your career, you have to go back to school and get another certificate. If you’re not willing to do that, too bad, you’re not qualified. [click to continue…]
In Chapter 10 of his famous book, “Think and Grow Rich”, Napoleon Hill writes about the Power of the Mastermind. A mastermind, is more than the sum of its parts. Every achievement of significance in the history of the world has been the fruition of a mastermind group, from the founding of the United States to Google’s dominance of the internet.
When I was a mechanical engineering student, I took a course in Thermodynamics. Thermodynamics is the study of energy and how it converts from one form to another, mainly from heat to mechanical work and vice versa. One of the units in this course was a brief study of nuclear energy.
The thing that fascinated me about this topic was how a nucleus of an atom, which consists of protons and neutrons bound together by a powerful force, has a different mass than all of the individual protons and neutrons that make it up. When the nucleus of an atom is split, this extra mass is converted into an enormous amount of energy via Einstein’s famous equation E = mc2. [click to continue…]
