I’ve read from a lot of self help authors that success in 90% mindset and only 10% strategy. Many of them have said we can change our lives just by changing our thoughts.
There’s no doubt about the mental transformations that are required for success. In Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill dedicates an entire chapter to the power of the subconscious mind.
Everything we have on the outside, our possessions, the amount of money we have in our bank accounts, our friends, and everything we do and say are a direct reflection of who we are on the inside.
People will blame external events, circumstances and other people for what happens to them, but their reality is a manifestation of their own thoughts.
And therefore, in order change our reality, we have to change our thoughts.
The subconscious mind is the gateway to turning our deepest desires into reality. And because of that, it can also be our biggest road block.
Everything that has happened in our lives up to the present moment has been processed by the subconscious mind.
It is a huge data bank. Who we are as individuals is deeply rooted the subconscious mind. Our most deeply held beliefs and core values are stored there.
They have been shaped for our entire lives from the influences of other people, institutions and events around us.
The Lies of the Industrial Age Education Complex
Most people have been so heavily programmed in one way that they can only believe that to making a decent living and have financial security is to study hard, get good grades, and work for a company that will pay a decent salary.
It was my reason for going to University and getting a degree in Engineering. I believed that society valued people with a degree and intellectual skills. I was wrong.
Being rich and living a life of my own design wasn’t even a possibility in my mind.
I never gave it a thought until I had finished going through the education system and started working full time.
After a year, I realised I had educated myself for a lifestyle that I did not want to live.
My parents were very proud of me when I graduated and landed a corporate job with a well above average salary for my age.
They believed everything going to plan, and it was going to be smooth sailing in a professional career, my future was secured.
And then I turned around and decided to get into network marketing, which upset them greatly. But that’s understandable because they have a very narrow definition of success that common society has programmed into them.
This is why success requires much work and personal development, because we first must reprogram ourselves to accept that success is much more than what common society tells us.
We have to believe that we are worthy of success.
Napoleon Hill writes that the subconscious mind can only be influenced to accept new beliefs when we mix our thoughts with emotions.
It does not matter if they are positive or negative emotions, the subconscious will accept them just the same.
If we continually live in a state of negative emotions, which is very easy to do by constantly watching the news, gossiping about other people and playing politics, the subconscious will learn to accept that this is a scarce world and we will automatically live in a state of mediocrity.
But if we continually work to live in a state of positive emotions, the subconscious will accept that this is an abundant world and manifest that belief as riches.

Great post Wayne… It’s true when they say, “garbage in garbage out.” That’s why I read at least one book per month. The books are always related to what I want to accomplish during that given month. This keeps me focused.
Hey Kyle,
Just like a computer program, our minds are the same… “Garbage in, Garbage out.”
I personally need find the time to read more books myself.
Thanks for commenting,

Hey Wayne,
This is a great post. Thanks for sharing your story — you are pretty brave to “go against the grain” like you have.
I have no doubt in my mind you will achieve all you want in this business!
Hey Derek,
I’ve gotta say, you and Monique are pretty brave too. All entrepreneurs are brave people who have the courage to do whatever it takes to be successful.
Thanks for the kind words,
Wayne
Good stuff Wayne. My experience has been that if we don’t consciously put positive energy in, our ‘default’ conditioning tends to the negative. Hence the need to keep working on ourselves
Hey Charlie,
It’s great to see you here, my friend.
Our default programming is negative because somehow, we’ve become so surrounded by negativity, especially now in the communications era we live in where bad news travels around at the speed of light. We need to tune out these things and stay focused on the positive.

The subconscious mind is a goldmine of untapped possibilities Wayne.
The beauty part is that our subconscious does not care if they are positive or negative situations, it just does what it believes and we just go along with it. However, if we can harness our subconscious mind by focusing on the right things, over time (thanks to reputation) we can see a change in our desired outcome.
It’s a wonderful thing. I use this in my business, ALL the time.
Have a good one,

Hey Jerome,
AHA! That’s why it’s the gatekeeper to our dreams. We can have desires and dreams, but if we don’t emotionalize them and don’t put ourselves in the right environments, they won’t materialize.
That’s why continuous personal development is so essential.
Take care,
Wayne
Hey Wayne, awesome article. The moment we are aware of our thoughts that is the beginning of our freedom. Nothing is more important than to feel joy, just because. That’s when you become the orchestra director of the symphony of your life.
Hey Luis,
It’s great to see you here. Welcome to my home on the internet. I love your orchestra director analogy. Just like an undirected orchestra will sound out of tune and disorganised, so will our own lives if we don’t actively work to set it on a focused path.
Take care my friend,
Wayne
