To be highly successful in network marketing, we must develop the belief and courage that it’s possible and that we can do it. Changing our beliefs is more important than any technique or skill we can ever learn. It’s a process that requires time, dedication and persistence.
When we start our network marketing journey, we often come “programmed” with beliefs that won’t serve us. They are more likely to hinder us. We need to get rid of self limiting beliefs in order to achieve the goals that we set for ourselves. We need to develop the belief that we deserve to be rich.
Back when I was working as an engineer in Sydney, I shared flat with a young colleague who was just beginning his career. Highly opinionated, had a vast bank of useless general knowledge, but a great, kind and friendly person.
One day we were having a discussion about the differences between the rich and the poor and I’ll never forget what he said to me. He spoke with absolute certainty and said “For you to have more, other people must have less. If you want to be rich, you HAVE TO rip other people off.”
I don’t want to sound judgmental, but I can’t blame him for believing that because of his upbringing in a conservative community. Sadly, many people carry this limiting belief on their shoulders all of their lives, and it causes them to live a life of scarcity, lack, greed and jealousy.
In their ideal world, everything should be available to them for free, as if the world owes it to them. They take more than they give. They look for opportunities to extract value, or get the “longer end of the stick”.
But it’s not their fault. Nobody is born with such limiting beliefs. They were subconsciously programmed into us repeatedly through our parents and friends who are mentally poor, watching the news, watching TV shows where the rich were stereotypically classified as snobs, “Robbin Hood”. Almost everywhere you look in common society, it’s a “sin” to be rich.
It’s a lie. There is no nobility in being poor.
Deeply ingrained beliefs are hard to change, but they can be changed if you work on yourself. Many network marketers struggle, not because of they don’t have the desire to be successful, or the work ethic, but because they feel guilty about becoming successful.
Consciously, you can learn all the right skills. You can learn to be a good blogger, you can learn how to talk on the phone, you can be in great company with the best people. But you still cannot be successful unless believe you deserve it because subconsciously, your guilt will corrupt you.
Continual personal development is key. The more you develop yourself, the stronger your sense of self worth. That’s why it’s so important to read positive material from successful people.
Your best bet is to stop hanging around people who have limiting beliefs and start hanging around positive people who have the same goals and aspirations as you do, or those who’ve already achieved the goals you’ve set for yourself. It is a drastic measure and very hard to do they are the very people that we love.
If you can’t do it, focus on bringing more positive people into your life and immerse yourself in their influence.

Thx so much Wayne. You hit the nail on the head for me. This is where I was, limiting myself b/c I felt guilty about having money. Now I’m breaking away from that mind-set and getting totally free of it.
Hey Cathy,
It’s good to see you here. It’s unfortunate that so many feel guilty about having money. There’s no need to feel guilty at all, because the people who are making you feel guilty are envying other people’s good fortune.

You have done it again my friend, you just hit the target. Getting to the place or state of being worthy of success may take a long journey, but the time is to take the right steps is always NOW. Being aware of the negative beliefs is the start point. Where we go from there is up to everyone of us
Wayne,
Do not forget my favorite quote:
“SUCCESS REQUIRES NO APOLOGIES, FAILURE PERMITS NO ALIBIS.”
This says it all. Great job as always!
