Explode Your Downline – Do You Really Want To Do That?

If you look at the physics of an explosion, a lot of heat is generated in a very short period of time, creating a shock wave that’s loud and travels outwards, blowing everything in its path to bits. Whatever is exploded ends up burnt and in thousands of tiny bits and pieces that can NEVER be put back together again.

Explosions cause irreversible damage. That’s a physical law of the universe. It’s also a law of the business world. Countless business have failed because their growth was unsustainable, fueled by greed and ego. And you can’t put it back together after it crashes and burns because your reputation has also “exploded”. You have to start all over again.

It’s unfortunate that many people come into network marketing expecting to get rich quick. This is a wonderful industry of personal development and cultivating leadership. But the way it is often promoted, it attracts desperate people who will inevitably fail. The last thing these people ever need is a business opportunity.

My old network marketing company was very recruitment driven. Their business model drove that behavior. Actually a lot of network marketing companies operate the same way. The products were premium priced, but were promoted mostly to “non-premium people.” Hardly anybody was retailing. It was all about getting people into the deal so they could by at wholesale and earn “frequent flyer” style bonus points.

This business model driving the behavior and the internet has bred a generation of MLM gurus who wildly claim they can sponsor 20, 30, 50 people a month.

But long term success in MLM is not about you recruiting 100,000 people into your downline. I guarantee you that none of the people you sponsor can duplicate that. It’s about you sponsoring four or five people who will be friends with you for the rest of your life. In turn they sponsor four or five people, who sponsor four or five people and so on.

If you play the numbers game and try to recruit as many people as you possibly can, your business will fail miserably because you don’t have any relationships with the people in your business, which is the glue that holds your business together.

Your dropout rate will be so high that you would have to work for the rest of your life just to combat the attrition.

The “gurus” don’t care about your success. In fact, most of them are failing miserably at building an MLM downline. They just want to make a few bucks off people who are desperate enough to believe that what they’re selling could bring instant results.

(By the way, I’m not talking about genuine leaders of this industry who’ve worked hard to build their big names and reputation.)

You’ve seen all the internet ads that scream “Generate 100 leads a day”, “Sponsor 20 people a week without picking up the telephone” Who would believe that? Desperate people, that’s who.

The truth is, you don’t need to generate 100 leads per day to have success in network marketing. It’s not about quantity, it’s all about quality. It’s about developing quality relationships with a few of the people that you come in contact with because you offered them a solution to their struggles.

We do live in a results driven world. We go to grocery store and expect there will fresh fruits and vegetables without even thinking of the process that it took to get them there. We all want success now. Plant today, harvest tomorrow. Success does not work like that. Success is a process.

“Success is the progressive realisation of a worthy ideal”

This is a brilliant quote that’s been used in one form or another by many self help authors. I first heard it from Earl Nightingale. It inspires me every time I read it because it reminds me that success is a journey – not a result. It requires consistent, focused, work on a daily basis which over time accumulates to an amazing harvest.

To your MLM success,

I feel This article is great and informative. Personally I agree with you that downline quality is more important than downline quantity because we don ‘t do Money Game Business. So If our goal is financial freedom the most important thing that we have to do is Teaching them with all the real knowledge you have and walk along with them delightfully.
100% real knowledge = 100% succeed.
